Skills for Success is an annual, mandatory employee in-service day that the city began in 2013. The one-day event offers a variety of classes to improve the skills of the city’s workforce while at the same time improving employee morale and teamwork. The curriculum has tracks for supervisory staff and general employees and focuses on developing important work-related skills. Topics covered include customer service, harassment, communication, ethics, and leadership. The training brings employees from all city departments together to learn, share experiences, and further develop a city-wide sense of teamwork that benefits citizens. On the training day, city offices are closed and coincide with a federal holiday, alleviating the challenge of bringing over 500 employees together for training and minimizing the impact to North Richland Hills citizens.
